Erectile dysfunction of physiologic
Abnormal blood vessels, nerves and nerve centers.
Where the treatment of these diseases do not improve erectile function of the patient, the doctor may suggest specific treatments:
Sildenafil (Viagra). This oral therapy helps dilate blood vessels in the penis to let in more blood and thus cause an erection. The drug does not cause an automatic erection and it does not increase sexual desire. It simply helps man to achieve or maintain an erection. It therefore acts only if humans are subjected to sexual stimulation. Nearly 80% of users get good results with this medication.
Intracavernous injections (injections or penile). They consist of injecting prostaglandin E1 on the side of the penis. The patient must however overcome the fear of an injection at that location. Within 15 minutes, even without sexual stimulation, penile rigidity attained automatically complete that lasts on average between 30 and 60 minutes. It is effective in 85% of cases.
An external prosthesis (or vacuum). This is a mechanical technique and nonsurgical. The device consists of a plastic cylinder, connected to a pump. The penis is inserted into the cylinder when the pump evacuates the air, creating a vacuum which causes the blood supply to the corpus cavernosum penis. A ring is installed at the base of the penis to prevent blood from returning and the cylinder is removed. The ring must be completely removed after 30 minutes of use, to prevent clotting of blood. Couples who have mastered this technique to estimate 80% effective.
Treatment transurethral. The Medicated Urethral System of Erection (MUSE) is inserted into the urethra (the opening of the penis) a minisuppositoire of alprostadil the tail of a grain of rice. The drug is absorbed by the walls of the urethra and makes the bloodstream in the corpus cavernosum of the penis, where it allows the muscles to relax and the penis engorged with blood. The erection occurs within 20 minutes - there is sexual stimulation or not - and usually lasts less than an hour. This method is effective in 40% of cases.
Prostheses or penile implants. There are different types. The silicone implants are inserted under the skin and are completely invisible. Most inflatable, that is to say that the rigidity of the prosthesis is achieved by manipulating a pump that is located in the scrotum. While it was once the main method to help men suffering from erectile dysfunction, the penile implants is now used as a last resort. Because it is irreversible, we do recommend that when all other methods have failed.
It is sometimes convenient to combine medical and psychosexual treatment to optimize results.

Men who underwent prostatectomy, may resort to various treatments for erectile dysfunction that you just mentioned.
Smoking
If the patient shows the will to quit smoking, your doctor can help by making available several ways, such as nicotine patches and oral drug: bupropion (Zyban). We also find gum chewing nicotine prescription in pharmacies. Stop smoking helps to recover erectile capacity, because it stops the damage to veins and arteries.
