Review: Swung by Ewan Morrison... It's this steadfast rejection of smirking cliché and the resolute humanity of the central characters, David and Alice, that make the book such a satisfying read.At its heart Swung is in fact, a fairly traditional love story. David and Alice are in their early 30s, in love and have just set up home together in Glasgow's West End. Morrison writes tellingly about the precarious existence of the modern yuppie couple: how, under the veneer of success, they are often never more than a redundancy or defaulted mortgage payment away from social collapse. This is the essential lot of western man and woman today, and it will resonate deeply with many people. It's just that in Swung, these tend to be a little more extreme than those experienced by most couples. So too, therefore, must be the remedies.Alice, a US art-school graduate ... Reflections on Virginia Tech, the Media, Racism (and Al Franken)... Instead of focusing on the Korean heritage of Cho Seung-hui, why not focus on whether he had access to proper medical care and prescription medication? Why not focus on the need for universal health care, and the need for better education across the board that is focused on not stigmatizing emotional illness. Any illness, whether physical or emotional, that is not treated is potentially dangerous. The way in which the media coverage is shaping up on this issue is something to keep our eyes on very carefully for a several reasons. The first is that racism is a tactic the rulers of this nation will not hesitate to employ, and the fact that the widespread outrage over the comments Don Imus made about the Rutgers women's basketball team resulted in his firing should not lull us into a false sense of secruity on the question of racism. The second is that Cho and his family are immigrants from South Korea, and the anti-immigration movement has been built on a sometimes subtle-sometimes not racism, and the Virginia Tech tragedy could be used as a catalyst by these forces. Finally, let's remember we have a faux Texan in the Wh... In The Top 10 Most Romantic Cities, Spring is Here and Boomer ...... Such a combination could cause a sudden, unsafe drop in blood pressure. The most common side effects with Cialis were headache, upset stomach, delayed backache or muscle ache. As with any ED tablet, in the rare event of priapism (an erection lasting more than four hours), men should seek immediate medical attention to avoid long-term injury. Men should not drink alcohol in excess with Cialis. Cialis does not protect a man or his partner from sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV. In rare instances, men taking prescription ED tablets (including Cialis) reported a sudden decrease or loss of vision. It's not possible to determine if these events are related directly to the ED tablets or to other factors. If a man has a sudden decrease or loss of vision, he should stop taking Cialis and seek immediate medical attention. Men should discuss their medical conditions and all medications with their doctors to ensure Cialis is right for them and that they are healthy enough for sexual activity.
